Germone“- I have always loved art. Painting both relaxes and inspires
me. I like to allude to an atmospheric landscape suggesting Provence,
Tuscany or even our own wine country, where there is a beautiful living
glow. I want to capture that light and feeling while still retaining a
layered, abstract texture.
Each of my paintings begins as an abstract work, however, I transform it
into a more realistic landscape to capture elements of both genres. I first
apply layers of both gold and copper leaf then tint the painting with oil
glazes. By adding and removing paint with cloth and brushes, I am able to
achieve a softened dreamy quality.”
Ms. Germone
was born and raised in the Bay Area. She comes from a family with a rich
tradition in the arts that dates back to her great-great grandfather, who
founded the Walker Art Center, a modern art museum in Minneapolis,
Minnesota.
She received her BFA in textile design from the Otis-Parsons College of Art
& Design in Los Angeles and then lived in London for five years, where she
was very influenced by William Turner, particularly his turbulent seascapes.
